John Thompson III won for the first time in the Carrier Dome. Georgetown (19-5) outscored Syracuse 15-3 in the final 6:40 of a 64-56 Hoya victory.

Slow-starting Northwestern (14-9) had a 14-0 run to creep within one at Michigan before the Wolverines closed out the 75-66 final.

Richmond (19-6) was victorious for the eighth straight time on the road, 69-65 at George Washington.

Princeton's win over Penn on Tuesday has brought memories of a lot of Quaker/Tiger finishes to the front of my mind over the prior 24 hours. One that stands out, perhaps because of the three technical fouls in the last nine seconds or perhaps because Jack Eggleston was also involved in the conclusion, is a 70-65 Penn win at the Palestra in 2008.

For the third straight season, Mercer County Community College scrimmaged the Princeton JV at Jadwin Gym. This game remains an enjoyable opportunity to watch two teams that run similar offenses face off and is also a chance to observe several Tigers in action that have seen limited playing time this season.

The game tipped in front of single digits on Friday afternoon four hours before the varsity and Harvard would do battle.

Freshman guard Sean McGonagill tied a Pizzitola Sports Center record with 39 points as Brown (8-11 / 1-4) outscored Columbia (12-7 / 3-2) by a 87-79 count. Austin Murphy's three point play with 12 seconds left completed an improbable 71-70 Yale (10-9 / 3-2) comeback over Cornell (4-15 / 0-5). The Bulldogs rallied down 10 with 1:55 remaining.

Unflappable Austin Freeman scored 30 to carry Georgetown (16-5) over Villanova, 69-66.

Xavier pulled away from Richmond (16-6) in the second half of a 85-62 decision. The Musketeer zone surprised the Spiders.

Mercer (9-14) led Salem by eight with 12 minutes to go. The Vikings' Gary Carthan popped out a shoulder and the Oaks eventually came away with a 65-62 win.

An inspired Northwestern (13-8) showing came up a point short of number one Ohio State. Playing without their leading scorer, the Wildcats shortened the game to 49 possessions.

Denver (11-10) knocked off the defending Sun Belt champions from North Texas, 80-67. The Pioneer Pulse has more on Denver's first win in the last six tries versus the Mean Green.

Stanford defeated Oregon State (8-12) in Palo Alto, 70-56.

Princeton recruit Denton Koon had 20 in Liberty's 58-43 triumph at Lee's Summit.

Harvard (14-3 / 4-0) stayed perfect at home, 78-57 over Cornell (4-14 / 0-4). Columbia (12-6 / 3-1) broke open a game tied at 25 and outscored Dartmouth (5-13 / 1-3) by 21 in the last 20 minutes of a 66-45 final.
