Are you curious why the Tigers' Daniel Edwards wasn't suited up on Wednesday night at Jadwin?

Trailing by two points on the road in the final minute, Denver (8-9) closed out a 66-57 decision over Louisiana-Monroe with a three point shot, a steal and a breakaway layup, a steal and two free throws then a third steal and two more free throws. Thus concluded the Pioneers' first road sweep in conference play since January 2003.

Friday News:

The Daily Princetonian and the Princeton Packet now have stories on the Tigers' win over Marist.

Denver (7-9) came dangerously close to blowing their 18 point second half lead at Western Kentucky, but held on for a 62-59 decision. It was Joe Scott's fourth conference road win as coach of the Pioneers.

Illinois obliterated Northwestern (9-4) in a game that was barely as close as the 88-63 final. The Illini shot 18-22 from the field in the first half.

Oregon State (7-7) fell 84-70 at Washington State.

Princeton recruit Denton Koon and Liberty lost to Grandview in the finals of the Bank Midwest Holiday Basketball Classic.

More on future Tiger Bobby Garbade and Seton CC from the Press & Sun Bulletin.

Clay Wilson had 27 as Lincoln Christian took care of Dewey at the Oologah Basketball Tournament.

UNC head coach Roy Williams was in New Egypt yesterday to watch Desmond Hubert play.

Yesterday's piece by Andy Katz on Harvard and the state of the Ivy League is worth a read.

Updated Plus/Minus numbers.

With the DI portion of Princeton's non-conference schedule complete, the Tiger athletic department was nice enough to update this season's plus/minus numbers.

The first chart shows the number of minutes played across the first 15 games this season and the difference in points scored by Princeton while each player was on the floor versus points allowed by the Tigers during the same span.

I've also broken down +/- per 40 minutes for all players who have seen at least 100 minutes of action and added Net/40 numbers ("Roland Rate") with inspiration from Hoya Prospectus.

Princeton 68 Marist 57.

Box Score : HD Box Score

Postgame audio - Coach Sydney Johnson, Douglas Davis & Dan Mavraides:

Princeton heads into their annual 17 day exam break with a program record-tying 11th DI non-conference win after a methodical 68-57 victory over Marist.

Five Tigers hit double figures as Princeton built a 20 point first half lead.

Their advantage cut to five midway through the second half, the Tigers responded with eight straight and the buffer never returned to single digits.

Princeton converted seven of eight free throws in the last 2:21 before an unencumbered Brendan Connolly's two-handed slam with under a minute to play pushed this edge back to where it sat at halftime, 17 .

Back-to-back three point shots for the Red Foxes - after missing their first 14 attempts - made the final count a touch deceptive.

"I don't think it was pretty, but I've been around a little bit and I think I see these guys were working hard," said Tiger head coach Sydney Johnson. "I think we hit a stretch there in the second half where we weren't making shots. One or two of them I wasn't happy with, four or five of them I was. It just didn't go down."
