It was a light night for the college basketball schedule on Friday but both Hawks that Princeton will be facing next week were in action: St. Joseph's lost their second straight to a fellow Philadelphia squad, 71-60 at Villanova. Will Campbell's three point shot with five seconds left gave the visitors from West Long Branch a one point win.

After having my co-pilot check the score every few minutes as we sailed back down Rt. 31, I rushed in the house and turned on my TV just in time to see the last play of regulation.

Tuesday was a prolific night of scoring for three of Pete Carril's disciples. Princeton scored 82 at Lafayette, Northwestern had 91 versus Georgia Tech and Georgetown went for 111 in their game against Missouri.
Chris Wright hit a three point shot at the buzzer to force overtime as Georgetown (7-0) topped number nine Missouri. Jason Clark made three straight treys to open up a seven point lead for the Hoyas in the extra frame.
Mercer (3-4) fell 80-71 at Raritan. Gary Carthan had 10 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.
Princeton recruit Clay Wilson scored 47 points in his first game of the season. Wow.

Princeton shot 75% from the field in the second half, including baskets on their first five possessions after intermission in Easton and held Lafayette at bay for an 82-64 decision. The Tigers only missed two times from inside the arc in the final 20 minutes.
Ian Hummer led the way with 22 points on 10-12 shooting. Dan Mavraides scored 15 of his 17 in the first half and Douglas Davis connected four times from the perimeter for 16.
Jared Mintz and Jim Mower each tallied 17 for the Leopards.
