Did you know former Princeton player Tim vanBlommesteyn is running as an independent candidate for Congress in New Hampshire?

Sticking with politics, Bill Bradley has weighed in on the Governor's race in Oregon, where former Yale standout Chris Dudley has the Republican nomination.

Richmond trumped Cal, Wake Forest and NC State for a recruit.

In the Sun Belt Conference's annual preseason coaches' poll, Denver was projected to finish third in the SBC West.

The full 2010-11 Georgetown media guide is available on-line.

Yahoo! Sports has published their preseason Princeton team report.

The Daily Princetonian talked to Craig Robinson, Randy Melville and Steve Mills about John Rogers' appointment to chair the president's Advisory Council on Financial Capability.

Former Princeton assistant Robert Burke is embracing the challenge of rebuilding Mount St. Mary's.

Duke rolled 141-68 over Division II Saint Augustine's in the first of their two exhibitions before they open their season versus Princeton.

Not directly related to Ivy basketball, but I found this article about the Sun Belt's conference-wide plan to increase their power rating fascinating.

Reunions 2003 montage.

I completely forgot that I shot and edited this montage for the Friends of Princeton Basketball from Reunions 2003 of the alumni basketball games at Jadwin Gym.

Pictured at different junctures: John Thompson III, Kyle Wente, Ray Robins, Pete Hegseth, Steve Goodrich (with platinum blonde hair!), Jerry Price, Ahmed El-Nokali, Chris Doyal, Jim Lane, Frank Sowinski, Nate Walton, Stu Orefice, Jason Osier, Stan Adleston, Sean Gregory, Gabe Lewullis, Rich Simkus, John Trubee, Christopher Kilburn-Peterson, Jamie Mastaglio, Brian Earl and many others I can't as easily ID.

In Euroleague Group D play, Mason Rocca scored 10 points as Armani Jeans Milano upset CSKA Moscow in Russia.

The Oregonian reports from Thursday's Oregon State practice at Gill Coliseum, one that even a fire alarm couldn't stop.

Craig Robinson: 2010 National Book Festival.

The Library of Congress has posted Craig Robinson's September appearance at the National Book Festival in full. Probably my favorite telling of how Robinson's father helped his son decide to attend Princeton is in this video.

Duke tickets? Anyone?

When Princeton visits top-ranked Duke at Cameron Indoor on November 14th, this gym should be a touch more crowded.

Several of you have emailed me back-channel over past few weeks about finding tickets for this sold out matchup.

While I haven't been much help on the whole, I'm posting tonight in the chance anyone with extra tickets might be willing to have their spares paired up with Tiger fans looking to get in the building.

A long shot I understand, but feel free to get in touch.

Midnight Madness at Georgetown.

The best footage I've found from Georgetown's 2010-11 kickoff event was filmed by The Hoya. Summarizes an entire evening into two concise minutes quite well.

Thursday News:

Georgetown's Austin Freeman was selected as the Big East's Preseason Player of the Year.

A poll of conference coaches shows the Hoyas are expected to finish fourth in the Big East this season.

There are many interest stats to digest in the Princeton athletic department's preseason news and notes.

Another collection of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family. A collection of interviews and footage out of Richmond's first practices this season is posted above.

Wednesday News:

The thorough Blue Ribbon Yearbook team preview for Princeton is up on the ESPN web site. It is my understanding this piece was written by Kathy Orton of the Washington Post. Those with ESPN Insider can read articles on all eight Ivy schools here.

The Washington Times reports from Georgetown Media Day.

Slam Magazine has a lengthy piece about what makes the Hoyas' basketball program special.

Pam Hersh of the Princeton Packet writes about Marvin Bressler's memorial service.

2010-11 schedules.

Hours of painful data entry behind me, I've completed the 2010-11 electronic calendars for each of the "Carril Cradle" teams. You can download any or all of the following to sync with your computer/PDA.

Each basketball schedule will be updated whenever a tip time changes or new TV information is revealed. These links will work best with iCal but are importable into Google Calendar.

If you notice any errors with games/dates/times/locations, please let me know.

This season's captains.

Princeton will have three captains leading the basketball team in 2010-11 - Seniors Dan Mavraides and Kareem Maddox along with junior forward Patrick Saunders.

This trio will be the first Tiger tri-captains since Matt Eastwick, Sean Jackson and George Leftwich in 1991-92.
