A big night for Will Venable, who tripled, singled and homered to center field (video) in his first three at bats. San Diego scored 10 times in the fourth inning and crushed Atlanta in the Padres' home opener. Of the team's 17 runs, four were recorded by Venable.
While Venable fell a double short of becoming the first San Diego player to hit for the cycle, he is just one of just 30 players in the modern era to steal a base, leg out a triple and go deep in one of their first 129 career games.

The return of Chris Young to the mound for the first time in 10 months was a rousing success. Young pitched six innings of shutout, one hit baseball as San Diego defeated Arizona 6-3. You can watch highlights of Young's night here.
