Princeton recruit Spencer Weisz is in the Top 10 of several different statistical categories for Essex County. The Star Ledger recently called Weisz "one of the state's most complete players."
According to a report Geoff Petrie is unlikely to return as General Manager of the Sacramento Kings. Then again, separate reports have the Sacramento Kings unlikely to return to Sacramento!
Richmond (11-5) defeated Rhode Island 64-61 in the Spiders' A-10 opener.
The Ivy League is holding its fourth-annual Men's Basketball Midseason Media Teleconference this morning, with all eight coaches answering questions from media.

Mercer (12-4) beat Ocean 82-52 behind 29 points for Mustafa El Amin.
Big East play has been a struggle for Georgetown (10-3). The Hoyas have failed to break 50 points in both of their conference games and last night John Thompson III's team was embarrassed by Pitt, 73-45.
Around the Ivy League: Columbia (8-6) lost 78-69 at Holy Cross. Brown (5-8) recorded a 75-74 overtime triumph over Niagara. Dartmouth (3-10) concluded a seven game losing streak with their 75-58 home win against Army. Penn (2-12) will visit Jadwin on Saturday as losers of seven straight. The Quakers came from 15 down in the second half against Lafayette to tie but Steve Rennard's wide open three pointer in the final seconds sailed right and the Leopards held on for the 85-83 final.

Ian Hummer is your Ivy League Player of the Week for the fourth time in the last five conference dispatches. It seems someone (not me!) also created a Wikipedia page for the senior forward a couple of hours ago.
For their Big East home opener, Georgetown hosts Pitt.

Here's the latest collection of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family. Above, Elon's highlights from Saturday's loss to the Tigers.
Eight additional videos - including footage of three different Princeton recruits - follow after the jump.
The Daily Princetonian rapidly reviews the Tigers games during the school's holiday break.
Denver (7-7) raced past UT-San Antonio, 75-50. The Pioneers are 3-1 in WAC play.
Bill Carmody had Northwestern (9-6) utilize almost all of every possession at #9 Minnesota. It worked for a while, as the Wildcats trailed 19-18 early into the second half. A 23-5 run over the next seven minutes gave the Golden Gophers comfort the rest of the way.
Leading by six at the break, Oregon State (10-4) was outscored 51-32 in the second half of their conference-opening loss to Oregon.
Around the Ivy League: Cornell (7-9) won 68-60 at American. Florida visited Yale (5-11) and came away with a 79-58 decision.
Future Tiger Amir Bell and East Brunswick moved to 7-0 on the season with a win over Roselle.
Georgetown (10-2) fell 49-48 in their Big East opener at Marquette.
A six game Fairfield (10-6) winning streak concluded with a 71-67 loss at Niagara. Greg Whittington made two of three free throws with the Hoyas behind by three and :02.3 remaining.
Returning to action after the holidays, Mercer (11-4) went down 79-62 at CCRI. Mustafa El Amin scored 25 for the Vikings in defeat.
I had no idea that occasional Princeton J.V. player and pitcher Stephen Elmore was using the NCAA's grad student exemption to play a season of basketball at The Citadel.
Around the Ivy League: Penn (2-11) committed 21 turnovers in their 74-57 loss at La Salle. Columbia (8-5) won 64-52 at Army. Harvard (8-5) destroyed Rice by 30. Colgate made 10-13 three pointers in a 78-62 win at Dartmouth (2-10).
There was a long list of things to like coming out of Princeton's wire-to-wire 10 point win at Elon on Saturday afternoon.
Whether it was Ian Hummer matching his career high of 28 points on 10-16 shooting, Will Barrett's five straight three pointers in the first half or T.J. Bray's dozen turned in entirely after intermission, several of the positives were individual.
But there was also 15 offensive rebounds and a 36-25 overall advantage on the glass for the Tigers, not to mention just three turnovers in the final 20 minutes as the Phoenix attempted to come from 16 down with 8:40 remaining following Hummer's dunk up and over the face of Elon leading scorer Lucas Troutman.
Perhaps the nicest thing on a day with limited complaints was how Princeton handled themselves when Troutman drew his team within seven.
Scoring on their last six possessions beginning with a driving Mack Darrow setting up Denton Koon for a two hand dunk, the Tigers never allowed their hosts a chance to administer additional pressure as the orange and black went 7-8 at the line to boost their chances into the waning seconds.
"I liked the calmness," recognized Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson. "There's a calmness now, which is the kind of progress we needed."
Troutman scored 14 on 13 field goal attempts but also had a 0:5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Postgame audio from Coach Mitch Henderson, Will Barrett & Ian Hummer plus the rest of this recap can be found after the jump.

The short work week due to New Year's Day didn't allow for Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson and princetonbasketball.com editor Jon Solomon to successfully schedule an in-person edition of their weekly interview series so for the first time in the history of this site feature a phone conversation will certainly suffice.
Henderson and Solomon reviewed Princeton's loss to Akron in detail before previewing the Tigers' trip to Elon. Several questions asked about the game versus the Zips were inspired by comments raised in the comments and in the forum during and following the result.

princetonbasketball.com was founded on April 28th, 1998 in an attempt to provide fans of the Princeton Tigers and Ivy League basketball with the best on-line source for up-to-date news and information. We have since expanded to launch a companion site, Georgetown Basketball News.
As these sites have continued to grow we have increased our coverage to include additional teams with Princeton connections - the Richmond Spiders, Denver Pioneers, Oregon State Beavers, Fairfield Stags and Mercer County Community College Vikings - plus former Tigers playing professional baseball and basketball all over the world. This site is not directly affiliated with the Friends of Princeton Basketball, Princeton University or the Princeton athletic department.
