Thus concluded the Pioneers' first road sweep in conference play since January 2003.

Georgetown (12-4) had four straight turnovers in the last two minutes of a 64-59 loss to West Virginia.

CCRI beat Mercer (6-10) by 12 in the Vikings' return from the holiday break.

A 26-2 second half run helped Richmond (13-4) to a 87-68 victory at LaSalle.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (11-3 / 1-0) kicked off conference play with a 68-53 win at Dartmouth (4-10 / 0-1). Chris Wroblewski's career high 29 points carried Cornell (4-10) beyond Stony Brook. Yale (7-7) was one of three Ancient Eight schools to defeat a non-DI foe on Saturday. The Bulldogs bested Baruch, 85-57. Columbia (9-5) stopped a persistent Union squad, 64-59. An afternoon that began with a bus accident didn't get any better once Lyndon State arrived at Brown (6-7). The Bears led by 36 at the half and cruised to the 88-55 final.



Friday News:

The Daily Princetonian and the Princeton Packet now have stories on the Tigers' win over Marist.

Denver (7-9) came dangerously close to blowing their 18 point second half lead at Western Kentucky, but held on for a 62-59 decision. It was Joe Scott's fourth conference road win as coach of the Pioneers.

Illinois obliterated Northwestern (9-4) in a game that was barely as close as the 88-63 final. The Illini shot 18-22 from the field in the first half.

Oregon State (7-7) fell 84-70 at Washington State.

Princeton recruit Denton Koon and Liberty lost to Grandview in the finals of the Bank Midwest Holiday Basketball Classic.

Marist is Princeton's final opponent before the exam break. The Red Foxes suffered an 83-67 loss at Loyola (MD) last night.

Georgetown (12-3) struggled offensively and lost to St. John's in the final seconds.

A late 12-0 run could not get Northwestern (9-3) past Michigan State. The Wildcats were vanquished by three.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (3-10) went down for the 9th time in 10 games, 78-66 versus Buffalo. Penn (5-6) fell 86-62 at Kentucky. Army and Dartmouth (4-9) met for the second time this season, with the Black Knights coming out on top 67-47 this time. American defeated Brown (5-7) by 10.

On a quest for their first NCAA tournament bid, Big 10 play starts for Northwestern at Purdue.

Princeton recruit Bobby Garbade and Seton CC won their fifth straight, 57-46 over previously unbeaten Union-Endicott. Garbade made the Regional Division 1 All-Tournament team.

Future Tiger Denton Koon made the all-tournament team, but Liberty dropped a 54-38 decision to Grandview in the William Jewell College tournament.

Three straight for Denver (5-9), who opened Sun Belt action with a 65-52 decision over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Oregon State (6-6) began their conference slate with an unexpected blowout of Arizona State.

Georgetown (11-1) methodically dispatched Memphis by 17 on the road, outscoring the Tigers 46-33 in the second half.

In Evanston Northwestern (9-1) scored the game's first 20 points and rolled past Mount St. Mary's, 70-47. John Shurna, the Wildcats' leading scorer, sprained his left ankle in the second half.

Former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich was courtside for Princeton's win at Towson.
