A decent weekend for Will Venable, who had two hits in the second inning on Friday night as the Padres scored six times versus Florida. Venable followed that up with a solo home run (video), his ninth of the season, in San Diego's 7-4 victory over the Marlins on Saturday. While his team was unable to pull of the sweep yesterday afternoon at Land Shark Stadium, Venable made another great diving catch (video) and raised his average to .274 with a pair of singles.

Cornell became the fifth Ivy League school to release their 2009-10 men's basketball schedule, joining Princeton, Brown, Harvard and Yale.

I read on CAAZone that incoming Princeton freshman Ian Hummer was playing for the Clyde's team in the Kenner League at Georgetown with Hoyas Jason Clark and Henry Sims, so I asked some regulars on the HoyaTalk message board to share their impressions of Hummer's game. Tuesday News:

Will Venable went 0-4 at the plate for San Diego last night in Cincinnati, lowering his batting average to .209.

Chris Young played catch yesterday without soreness, but his recovery from a shoulder inflammation is taking longer than planned.
