"The Warrior."

Reading the following in last week's Daily Princetonian got me curious:

Over the summer, [Coach Sydney] Johnson sent the team an email with a link to a motivational youtube.com video: a Charles Barkley highlight reel set to '80s rock that featured the tagline, "Who says pros can't compete?"

So, I tracked this video down. Here it is...

Not sure if these clips will make you personally want to rush to the gym to work out, but it does put a play or two from yesterday's game in a slightly different context.

Soundtrack by Scandal.

It's one of the great songs from the 80's.

I never expected the work of Patty Smyth to show up on these pages.

And the way the video is synched to one of the all time great lyrics . . "BANG! BANG!" . . . is pure genius.

I never liked Barkley much, but can appreciate how Johnson used the video to create anticipation about the attitude and effort he wants to define his program.

Can't wait for Wednesday night . . . it's great to be in "fan" mode again after an eight month break . . . it's especially nice to get 5 games in 10 days right off the bat.

I remember this video from when I was a kid -- it was on a VHS cassette of videos that came as a gift with a Sports Illustrated subscription (far better than a football phone, if you ask me). One of the other videos was a montage highlights of sub-6-foot NBA players set, of course, to "Tough Enough" by The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
