Current and former Princeton big men joined forces as Pawel "The European One" Buczak (#25) and Brendan "Brendan Connolly" Connolly (#44) both suited up sporting orange for Dyckman / New York Athletic Club at New York's Nike Pro City Summer League against Smush Parker and X-Men.
The full game is on YouTube, with three more segments available after the jump.
Even professionally, Doug Davis is a Tiger. The second-leading scorer in Princeton history has signed a one year deal with Walter Tigers Tübingen of Germany's Bundesliga.
Last season Davis' new team finished 12th in the top German league with a 15-19 record.
Fellow Princeton alum Konrad Wysocki is now in the same league as Davis, having inked a deal with EWE Baskets Oldenburg this offseason.
C. Young (3-5) 7.0 IP 4 H 1 ER 0 BB 4 K 4.22 ERA. 97 pitches, 64 strikes.
Winless in July, Chris Young received decent run support and got back on track in San Francisco. Young retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced as the Mets bested the Giants 9-1.
At the Olympics, the Dave Blatt-coached Russian team secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a one point victory over Brazil. A thrilling final minute of play concluded with Vitaliy Fridzon's falling down, left pocket three pointer that somehow gave his team the 75-74 decision.
Craig Robinson and Oregon State held their first of 10 summer practices yesterday in advance of the team's trip to Europe.
After missing almost all of last season with an injury, Norwua Agho won't be returning for Columbia in 2012-13.
Remember Princeton's close 2010 loss to then-undefeated Central Florida? That's just one victory the Knights have vacated as part of the school's self-imposed penalties
By now you've likely heard that the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to bring in Eddie Jordan as an assistant at Kobe Bryant's behest and start running some variation of the "Princeton Offense." If you want to watch the equally unbearable Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith argue this decision for seven minutes, there's video here.
ESPN Boston has more on Pete Miller's commitment to the Tigers.
John Carroll, the head coach of prep powerhouse and reigning NEPSAC champion Northfield Mount Hermon, has seen a lot of Ivy League recruits suit up for his Hoggers. The school has sent 16 different players to Ivy programs in the last five years alone.
Carroll thinks there’s a chance that Pete Miller could be the best of them all.
Yesterday morning the versatile, skilled 6'10" senior-to-be added his name to this impressive list of Northfield alums when he called Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson and informed him that he wanted to become a Tiger next season.
Last night I spoke with Carroll as well as Miller's AAU coach Michael Crotty, Jr. of Middlesex Magic. Their exclusive quotes and analysis plus links to player evaluations, photos and videos of Miller can all be found after the jump.
12 alumni of prep powerhouse Northfield Mount Hermon will suit up for Ivy League teams in 2012-13, but Princeton does not currently have a NMH grad on their roster.
This will change next season as 6'10" Pete Miller has committed to join Steven Cook in Mitch Henderson's 2013 recruiting class.
Miller hails from Winchester, MA and plays his AAU ball for Middlesex Magic.
Since this original post went live I've talked to both Miller's AAU coach and his head coach for a full profile of the latest Tiger that should (hopefully) be finished tomorrow.
Here’s the latest collection of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family. Above, Russian head coach David Blatt, whose team improved to 2-0 in group play earlier this morning, shares some of his Olympic memories.
Congratulations are in order for Mitch Henderson and his wife on the birth of their son Theodore Robert (not pictured above).
Pete Carril was profiled in El Pais. I ran the article through Google Translate which should make it somewhat easier to parse the content if you don't speak Spanish.
Carril and Coach Henderson met soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović when French football club Paris Saint-Germain practiced at Princeton recently.
The Dave Blatt-coached Russian team opened group play at the 2012 Olympics with a 95-75 victory over host nation Great Britain.
A pair of scheduling updates: Georgetown has been matched with UCLA in the second Legends Classic semifinal and Oregon State will play Alabama at MSG in one of the 2K Sports Classic's semis.
It was poor fastball location that plagued Chris Young (2-5) on Saturday night in Arizona. Young allowed seven hits and six earned runs in four innings of work as the Mets fell 6-3 to the Diamondbacks.
One sentence of praise for Ian Hummer from someone who has watched a good number of Kenner League games over the years.
If you've listened to part one of this week's exclusive interview with Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson, you already knew that Rider will visit Princeton for the first time in over a decade this season.
That matchup now has a date, which has been added to the tentative 2012-13 schedule on your right.
Scott Greenman is one of those scheduled to suit up at the 24th Annual Chuck’s 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.
The Cornell schedule for 2012-13 has been released, allowing the insertion of games versus the Big Red and Columbia in the tentative schedule to your right.
I think it is fair to also expect the Dartmouth/Harvard road trip to be the weekend of February 16th and those two teams to return to Jadwin in reverse order the weekend of March 1st. If Penn concludes the conference slate (as tradition has dictated), the only remaining question is where the first game versus the Quakers slots and whether that would come prior to the exam break or not.
Will Venable (video) dropped in a two run double to give San Diego a lead they would not relinquish versus San Francisco yesterday.
Here's part two of yesterday's conversation with Princeton men's basketball coach Mitch Henderson. If you missed part one, it can be found here.
In this segment (which runs a more manageable 6:00+) topics of conversation include:
The Tigers' upcoming trip to Spain, what cities the team will be visiting, who is eligible to go overseas, how much practice time is allowed before departure, what Coach Henderson took away from previous European visits as both a player and a coach, Summer leagues and Henderson's feelings on the Ivy League turning down a postseason tournament proposal.
After you're done listening feel free to explore a full archive of our weekly discussions from last season.
princetonbasketball.com was founded on April 28th, 1998 in an attempt to provide fans of the Princeton Tigers and Ivy League basketball with the best on-line source for up-to-date news and information. We have since expanded to launch a companion site, Georgetown Basketball News.
As these sites have continued to grow we have increased our coverage to include additional teams with Princeton connections - the Richmond Spiders, Denver Pioneers, Oregon State Beavers, Fairfield Stags and Mercer County Community College Vikings - plus former Tigers playing professional baseball and basketball all over the world. This site is not directly affiliated with the Friends of Princeton Basketball, Princeton University or the Princeton athletic department.
